"Activating Faith in Business"

Attention: Christian Business Owners and Leaders

Can you answer yes to most of these questions:

  • Are you a Christian who owns or leads a business or organization?

  • Do you sometimes feel like your faith and work life are in separate boxes?

  • Have you struggled with societal pressures that challenge your faith?

  • Have you sat in a training where you struggled with the principles and values presented?

  • Have you wondered how you can integrate your faith more fully into your business or organization?

Hello, my name is David Swihart and I have wrestled most of my adult life with how to integrate my faith into every area of my life. This past year I asked that specifically about my business. As I started to pray and seek God's direction, I realized that I had separated my faith from my business in more ways than I would like to admit. This led me to start thinking about how I could fully integrate my theological studies, my Biblical knowledge, and my love of business and entrepreneurship.

This awareness led to the development of my new webinar:

“Activating Faith in Business”

In the webinar, we will discuss specific ways to bring your faith into your business:

Viewing Work as Ministry

Developing Character-Based Leadership

We need Christians who are committed to showing up differently in the workplace

We spend approximately 88,000 hours working in our lifetimes. 40 hours per week, 50 weeks per year for over 40 years. I wonder how we can maximize that time to express our faith. I believe that our businesses and workplaces are the biggest opportunity for most Christians to demonstrate their faith. When people know that we are Christians, they watch us. They want to see who we are, what we do, if we are different. As a pastor, I have experienced this firsthand and it was a huge gut check for me when someone said, "You can't be a pastor, acting like that." Now I don't remember specifically what I did or said, but it made me stop and think, "Am I conducting myself in a way that shows others that I am a Christ follower?"

This led me to start praying and searching the Scriptures for ways that God wants us to show up in the workplace. And I discovered that God has a lot to say about our work. God cares about our character and integrity. He cares about the way we treat the people around us. He cares about how we handle our finances. He cares about the way we interact, the way we think, and ultimately, the way we conduct our business.

One of my favorite examples is the young Israelite, Daniel when he was in Babylon far from his home. He had been selected for a training program to become a government official and was quickly elevated to one of the highest positions. In Daniel 6, the Bible describes Daniel in this way:

"Daniel soon proved himself more capable than all the other administrators and high officers. Because of Daniel's great ability, the king made plans to place him over the entire empire. Then the other administrators and high officers began searching for some fault in the way Daniel was handling government affairs, but they couldn't find anything to criticize or condemn. He was faithful, always responsible, and completely trustworthy."

(Dan. 6:3-4, New Living Translation)

I believe that what the Babylonian officials said about Daniel should be true about every Christian in the workplace. My passion is to help Christians bring their faith fully into their workplaces so that they can show Christ through their actions and work. That is why I am hosting this webinar: Activating Faith in Business.
